Planning & Development Services Adds on-Call Contractors for Member Governments

The Planning and Development Services Department is pleased to announce expanded services to member governments through new partnerships with Stewart Inc. as well as with CodeWright Planners, LLC in association with the Timmons Group, Both& Planning, and the Brough Law Firm.

UCPCOG issued a request for qualifications (RFQ) in the spring of 2020 and, after a review process of seven (7) firms and their teams, selected two (2) firms that have extensive land use planning, zoning, legal, and other experience working in a local government setting. This has been done to streamline the firm selection process for UCPCOG member local governments, providing you quick access to qualified planning services firms with individuals, consultants, and project teams authorized to operate in North Carolina.

Firms selected possess expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Long-range planning (e.g., updates of community Comprehensive Plan, Site-Specific Master Planning/Design)
  • Current Planning (e.g. administration of zoning ordinances, code enforcement assistance)
  • Regulatory Amendments (e.g., updates and amendments to Zoning Ordinances, Subdivision Ordinances, UDOs, and land use regulations as required by NCGS Chapter 160D)

Because UCPCOG is an extension of our local member governments by NC Statute and has completed this RFQ and selection process, members can opt to negotiate and contract directly with these firms without going through an RFQ process of your own.

In order to further facilitate your planning and land use needs, UCPCOG PDS will be happy to discuss those needs and share detailed information about the selected firms including team and project experience, references, and current rate sheets. We can then make formal introductions to their Principles engaging in our region. Please feel free to contact Planning and Development Services Director, Ron Townley at rtownley@ucpcog.org.

UCPCOG does not need to be involved in the direct service relationship between the firm(s) and our members beyond this point, unless requested by the local government, about these preferred firms.  Please find some initial introductory information about these preferred firms.
