We are Hiring: Project Manager


PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT SERVICES PROJECT MANAGER: The Upper Coastal Plain Council of Governments (Wilson, NC) is seeking qualified applicants to join the Planning and Development Services Department and assist with the operations of the Council.  The Project Manager is responsible for planning and implementing economic development grants and programs.

Job duties will involve performing professional program and project development, management and implementation including grant research, writing and award management, program/project management, and implementation of the region’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS).  This position will develop and implement strategies of regional importance, which may fall within, but are not limited to, the following CEDS goal areas: broadband infrastructure, digital literacy/inclusion, main street/downtown development, tourism, parks & recreation, historic preservation, transportation, entrepreneurship, economic competitiveness, and workforce development.  Focus will be on meeting the priority needs of the organization, department, and member local governments to ensure resilient, equitable growth and development across the Upper Coastal Plain region.

Specific knowledge and experience are required in assisting communities in the development and administration of economic development programs to improve/evaluate priorities, work to accomplish those priorities, and seek new opportunities both individually and through new or existing partnerships. 

Minimum requirements: BA/BS in planning, community development, regional and urban planning, public or business administration or related field.  Master’s degree in planning, public administration or related field and some experience in municipal and/or regional planning and program/project management or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.   Relevant professional certifications and three years of relevant experience are preferred.

Pay Range: $57,209 to $85,808 DOQ. Excellent fringe benefits. EOE.
